Vol. 1 No. 1 (2026)Vol. 1 No. 1 (2026): June 2026 of An-Najah: Jurnal Ushuluddin dan Studi Islam, with e-ISSN 3163-7833 and p-ISSN 3163-7825, marks the inaugural publication of the journal. This inaugural issue focuses on the intellectual tradition of balāghah and its significance for understanding the linguistic, rhetorical, aesthetic, semantic, and interpretive dimensions of the Qur’an. The articles examine the historical development and epistemological foundations of balāghah, including al-Sakaki’s contribution to the formation of Arabic rhetorical thought and its continuing relevance to contemporary Qur’anic studies. The issue also discusses various concepts and devices within the Arabic rhetorical tradition, including tanāfur al-ḥurūf, gharābah, mukhālafat al-qiyās, istiʿārah, majāz, tashbīh, jinās, kināyah, iqtibās, tauriyah, and muqābalah. These studies demonstrate how rhetorical structures contribute to the beauty, precision, semantic depth, argumentative force, ethical communication, and linguistic inimitability of the Qur’an. Collectively, the contributions affirm that balāghah is not merely a traditional discipline concerned with linguistic ornamentation. It constitutes an important analytical framework for examining the relationship between language, meaning, aesthetics, theology, ethics, and Qur’anic interpretation. This issue therefore provides a scholarly foundation for advancing interdisciplinary studies in Qur’anic rhetoric, Arabic linguistics, Islamic thought, ushuluddin, and contemporary Qur’anic interpretation.
