Peer Review Process

Journal of Qur’anic Legal Studies and Exegesis is a peer-reviewed academic journal published biannually. All manuscripts submitted to this journal must be written in English and must demonstrate originality, academic rigor, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope. The journal primarily publishes original research articles, while a limited number of theoretical or review papers may also be considered.

All submitted manuscripts undergo a structured editorial process, including a double-blind peer review system. Once a manuscript is submitted through the online submission system, it will first be evaluated by the editorial team through an initial screening process. This stage aims to assess the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s focus and scope, adherence to author guidelines, originality, and overall academic quality. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be sent to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the field. The review process is conducted in a double-blind manner, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed. In cases where the reviewers provide significantly different recommendations, a third reviewer may be assigned to ensure a balanced and fair evaluation.

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial board will make a decision regarding the manuscript, which may include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers’ comments and resubmit them within the specified timeframe.

The final decision on the manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations and the overall quality of the revised manuscript. All accepted manuscripts will proceed to copyediting and proofreading before being published online under the journal’s open access policy.
