Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal is a fundamental component in the development of a credible and respected body of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the work of authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the principles of scholarly research and academic integrity.

Journal of Qur’anic Legal Studies and Exegesis, as published by Institut Bahtera Studi Islam, is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards at all stages of publication. The publisher ensures that any commercial interests, including advertising or sponsorship, do not influence editorial decisions.

In managing its publication, the journal upholds three fundamental ethical principles:

  2. Fairness – providing equal opportunity based on academic merit
  3. Integrity – ensuring originality and preventing plagiarism, duplication, and data falsification

These principles apply to all parties involved in the publication process.

Publication Decisions

Decisions are based on the manuscript’s academic merit, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to scholarly discourse. Editorial decisions are also guided by legal considerations, including copyright, plagiarism, and defamation laws. Editors may consult with reviewers and editorial board members in making decisions.
