Plagiarism Policy
Journal of Qur’anic Legal Studies and Exegesis is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publication. All submitted manuscripts must be original works and free from any form of plagiarism.
The journal defines plagiarism as the use of others’ ideas, words, data, or work without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to, direct copying, paraphrasing without citation, self-plagiarism, and duplication of previously published work.
All manuscripts submitted to the journal will be screened using plagiarism detection software before proceeding to the peer review process. The acceptable similarity threshold is as follows:
- The overall similarity index must not exceed 20%
- Similarity from a single source must not exceed 5%
Manuscripts that exceed these thresholds will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected outright, depending on the severity of the overlap.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
- all sources are properly cited and referenced
- quotations are clearly indicated
- previously published work is appropriately acknowledged
- the manuscript represents original and unpublished research
In cases where plagiarism is detected after publication, the journal will take appropriate actions in accordance with COPE guidelines, including:
- issuing a correction or clarification
- retracting the article
- notifying the author’s institution if necessary
The editorial board takes plagiarism seriously and will not tolerate any unethical publishing practices. Authors are strongly encouraged to check their manuscripts using plagiarism detection tools prior to submission to ensure compliance with the journal’s standards.
