Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS)

The Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS) recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and writing. This policy outlines the acceptable and ethical use of AI technologies in the preparation, submission, and review of manuscripts.

1. Definition of AI Tools

AI tools refer to software or systems capable of generating, analyzing, or modifying content using machine learning or automated processes. This includes, but is not limited to, tools such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, QuillBot, and similar technologies.

2. Acceptable Use of AI

Authors may use AI tools for limited and supportive purposes, such as:

Language editing and grammar improvement
Formatting assistance
Reference organization
Preliminary idea structuring

The use of AI must not replace the author’s intellectual contribution.

3. Prohibited Use of AI

The following uses of AI are strictly prohibited:

Generating the main content of the manuscript (e.g., arguments, analysis, conclusions)
Producing data, results, or interpretations without human verification
Creating fabricated references or citations
Submitting AI-generated content as original scholarly work

4. Disclosure Requirement

Authors must clearly disclose any use of AI tools in the manuscript, typically in a separate section such as:

Acknowledgments
Methodology (if relevant)

The disclosure should specify the type of AI tool and its purpose.

5. Authorship Responsibility

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. All submitted work must be the intellectual responsibility of the human author(s), who are accountable for:

Accuracy of content
Integrity of analysis
Originality of the manuscript

6. Editorial and Reviewer Use of AI

Editors and reviewers must not use AI tools in a way that compromises confidentiality. Manuscripts under review must not be uploaded to AI systems that store or reuse data.
