Peer Review Process

Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS)

The Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS) implements a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all published articles.

1. Initial Submission and Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team to ensure:

  • Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope
  • Compliance with author guidelines and formatting standards
  • Basic academic quality and clarity
  • Absence of plagiarism (checked using plagiarism detection software)

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.

  • The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed
  • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript objectively and confidentially
  • The review process typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on reviewer availability

3. Review Criteria

Reviewers assess manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and contribution to the field
  • Relevance to Islamic political and social studies
  • Theoretical and conceptual framework
  • Methodological rigor and validity
  • Clarity of analysis and argumentation
  • Use of relevant and up-to-date references
  • Academic writing quality

4. Review Outcomes

Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the editorial decision may be:

  • Accepted without revision
  • Accepted with minor revisions
  • Accepted with major revisions
  • Rejected

Authors will receive detailed feedback and are required to revise their manuscript accordingly.

5. Revision Process

Authors must revise the manuscript based on reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version along with a response-to-reviewers document.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation if necessary.

6. Final Decision

The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on:

  • Reviewers’ evaluations
  • Quality of revisions
  • Overall academic contribution

The Editor-in-Chief’s decision is final.

7. Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo:

  • Copyediting
  • Layout editing
  • Proofreading

before being published online in the journal issue.

8. Ethical Considerations

All parties involved in the peer review process (authors, reviewers, and editors) must adhere to ethical standards, including:

  • Confidentiality of manuscript content
  • Objectivity and fairness in evaluation
  • Avoidance of conflicts of interest
