Plagiarism Policy
Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS)
The Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and takes all forms of plagiarism seriously. All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism prior to the peer review process.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the use of others’ ideas, words, data, or work without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Direct copying without citation
- Paraphrasing without proper attribution
- Self-plagiarism (reuse of one's own previously published work without citation)
- Data plagiarism and unauthorized use of research results
2. Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JIPSS are checked using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or equivalent tools).
- Acceptable similarity index: maximum 20%
- No single source should exceed 5% similarity
- Properly cited quotations and references are excluded from evaluation
3. Editorial Actions
The editorial team will take the following actions based on the level of similarity:
- Below 20% → Proceed to peer review
- 20–30% → Returned to the author for revision
- Above 30% → Rejected immediately
Manuscripts containing clear evidence of plagiarism, regardless of percentage, will be rejected.
4. Plagiarism After Publication
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JIPSS will take appropriate action in accordance with COPE guidelines, including:
- Issuing a correction or retraction
- Removing the article from the journal website
- Informing the author’s affiliated institution
5. Author Responsibilities
Authors must ensure that:
- Their work is original and properly cited
- All sources are accurately acknowledged
- Any reused content is clearly indicated
Authors are encouraged to check their manuscripts using plagiarism detection tools before submission.
6. Ethical Commitment
JIPSS upholds strict academic ethics and does not tolerate any form of plagiarism. Violations may result in:
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript
- Blacklisting of the author for future submissions
- Notification to relevant academic institutions
