Publication Ethics

Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS)

The Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractice. This statement is based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Ethical Principles of Publication

All articles published in JIPSS must be:

  • Original and free from plagiarism
  • Scientifically accurate and methodologically sound
  • Transparent in data, sources, and interpretation
  • Conducted with academic integrity and honesty

Any form of unethical behavior is unacceptable and will be handled seriously.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

a. Originality and Plagiarism

Manuscripts must be original works. Proper citation of all sources is mandatory. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.

b. Data Integrity

Authors must present accurate data. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is unethical and unacceptable.

c. Multiple Submission

Manuscripts must not be submitted to more than one journal simultaneously.

d. Authorship

Authorship must reflect significant contributions to the research. All listed authors must approve the final manuscript.

e. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the research.

f. Acknowledgment of Sources

All sources, references, and contributions must be properly acknowledged.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

a. Fair Decision-Making

Manuscripts are evaluated solely on academic merit without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or political beliefs.

b. Confidentiality

Editors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents.

c. Conflict of Interest

Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

d. Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief has full authority to decide which articles are published based on peer review results and editorial judgment.

4. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining publication quality and must:

a. Objectivity

Provide unbiased and constructive evaluations.

b. Confidentiality

Treat manuscripts as confidential documents.

c. Acknowledgment of Sources

Identify relevant published work not cited by the authors.

d. Conflict of Interest

Decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

e. Timeliness

Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe.

5. Publication Misconduct

JIPSS takes the following misconduct seriously:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate publication
  • Citation manipulation
  • Unethical research practices

If misconduct is detected, the journal will take appropriate actions, including:

  • Rejection of the manuscript
  • Retraction of published articles
  • Notification to authors’ institutions

6. Retraction and Correction Policy

Articles may be:

  • Retracted if serious ethical violations are identified
  • Corrected if minor errors are found that do not invalidate the research

All retractions and corrections will be clearly indicated and transparently communicated.

7. Ethical Oversight

For research involving human participants or sensitive data, authors must ensure:

  • Ethical approval has been obtained where required
  • Participants’ rights and confidentiality are protected

8. Open Access Policy

JIPSS provides immediate open access to its content, supporting the principle that making research freely available contributes to the global exchange of knowledge.
