Retraction
Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS)
The Journal of Islamic Political and Social Studies (JIPSS) is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Retraction serves as a mechanism to correct the literature and ensure its reliability. This policy follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Purpose of Retraction
Retraction is intended to:
- Correct significant errors in published work
- Address serious ethical violations
- Maintain the credibility and integrity of academic publications
Retractions are not used as a punitive measure, but as a means of safeguarding scholarly communication.
2. Grounds for Retraction
An article may be retracted under the following conditions:
- Evidence of plagiarism or duplicate publication
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Serious methodological errors that invalidate the findings
- Unethical research practices
- Unauthorized use of copyrighted material
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest that significantly affect the research
3. Retraction Procedure
The retraction process involves several steps:
- Investigation
The editorial team conducts an initial assessment based on reported concerns or detected issues. - Communication with Authors
Authors are contacted and given the opportunity to respond and provide clarification. - Evaluation
The editorial board reviews all evidence, possibly involving independent experts. - Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the findings.
4. Retraction Notice
If an article is retracted:
- A formal retraction notice will be published
- The notice will clearly state the reason for retraction
- The original article will remain accessible but marked as “Retracted”
- The retraction will be linked to the original article
5. Corrections and Errata
If the issue does not invalidate the entire work:
- Minor errors will be corrected through errata or corrigenda
- Corrections will be clearly indicated and linked to the original article
6. Author-Initiated Retraction
Authors may request retraction if they discover significant errors in their work. Such requests will be evaluated following the same procedure.
