AI Policy

Journal of Interdisciplinary Qur’anic Studies (JIQS)

The Journal of Interdisciplinary Qur’anic Studies (JIQS) acknowledges the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and writing. The journal establishes the following policy to ensure transparency, integrity, and ethical use of AI.

1. Permitted Use of AI

Authors may use AI tools (e.g., language editing, grammar checking, or translation) to improve the clarity and readability of manuscripts. However, such tools must not replace the author’s intellectual contribution.

2. Disclosure Requirement

Any use of AI tools in the preparation of the manuscript must be clearly disclosed in a separate statement within the manuscript (e.g., in the Acknowledgements or Method section).

3. Authorship and Responsibility

AI tools cannot be listed as authors. All authors remain fully responsible for:

  • The accuracy of the content
  • The originality of the work
  • Proper citation of sources

4. Prohibited Use of AI

The following uses are not permitted:

  • Generating entire manuscripts without critical human oversight
  • Fabricating data, references, or citations
  • Producing misleading or unverifiable academic content

5. Editorial and Review Use

Editors and reviewers may use AI tools to assist in language evaluation but must not upload confidential manuscripts to unsecured or unauthorized AI platforms.

6. Ethical Compliance

All AI usage must comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Policy. Misuse of AI may result in rejection or retraction of the manuscript.
