Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Interdisciplinary Qur’anic Studies (JIQS) undergo a rigorous and transparent peer review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and scholarly integrity.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, the manuscript is first evaluated by the Editorial Board to assess its suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, formatting compliance, and overall academic quality. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements may be rejected without external review.
2. Plagiarism Check
All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding the acceptable threshold will be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.
3. Double-Blind Peer Review
JIQS applies a double-blind peer review system, where both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the field.
4. Review Criteria
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
- Originality and contribution to knowledge
- Relevance to Qur’anic and interdisciplinary studies
- Methodological rigor and clarity
- Theoretical and analytical depth
- Quality of writing and organization
5. Review Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial decision may be:
- Accepted without revision
- Accepted with minor revisions
- Accepted with major revisions
- Rejected
Authors will receive detailed feedback and are required to revise their manuscripts accordingly.
6. Revision Process
Authors must submit a revised manuscript along with a response to reviewers explaining how the comments have been addressed. The revised manuscript may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation if necessary.
7. Final Decision
The final decision on publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of revisions.
8. Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, proofreading, and final publication. Authors will be notified prior to publication.
