The Journal of Interdisciplinary Qur’anic Studies (JIQS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must ensure that:
- Originality: Submitted manuscripts are original and have not been published elsewhere
- No Plagiarism: Proper citation of all sources is mandatory
- Multiple Submission: Manuscripts must not be under consideration by another journal
- Authorship: All listed authors have significantly contributed to the research
- Data Integrity: Data must be accurate and not fabricated or manipulated
- Acknowledgment: All sources of funding and contributions must be properly acknowledged
- Conflict of Interest: Any potential conflicts must be disclosed
2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for:
- Making publication decisions based on academic merit
- Ensuring a fair and unbiased review process
- Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts
- Avoiding conflicts of interest
- Taking action against unethical behavior (e.g., plagiarism, data manipulation)
3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers must:
- Conduct reviews objectively and constructively
- Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts
- Identify relevant published work not cited by authors
- Declare any conflicts of interest
- Provide clear and evidence-based feedback
4. Publication Misconduct
JIQS strictly prohibits:
- Plagiarism
- Data fabrication or falsification
- Duplicate or redundant publication
- Improper authorship attribution
Any detected misconduct will result in:
- Rejection of the manuscript
- Retraction of published articles (if applicable)
- Notification to the authors’ institutions if necessary
5. Corrections and Retractions
- Errors discovered after publication may be corrected through errata or corrigenda
- Serious ethical violations may lead to retraction of the article
6. Copyright and Licensing
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing unrestricted use with proper attribution.
